Common oven and range problems we diagnose
We commonly diagnose:
- oven does not heat
- oven heats slowly
- incorrect or unstable temperature
- gas oven does not ignite
- igniter glows but burner does not light
- electric heating element does not heat
- surface burner does not work correctly
- oven shuts off unexpectedly
- unusual smell or electrical overheating
- control panel problems
- error codes
Gas oven ignition problems
A gas oven igniter can glow and still be too weak to operate the gas valve correctly.
Diagnosis may require electrical measurement rather than visual inspection alone.
Gas appliances should not be repeatedly operated when ignition is delayed or abnormal.
Electric oven problems
Electric ovens may have heating element, wiring, sensor, relay, control, or power-supply problems that produce similar symptoms.
Testing helps determine which part of the circuit has actually failed.
What we may check
Depending on the complaint, diagnosis may include:
- stored error codes
- oven temperature and heating behavior
- gas igniter operation
- electric heating elements
- temperature sensors
- surface burner operation
- wiring and electrical connections
- power supply
- control boards and relays where appropriate

We service many common household appliance brands, including Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG and others.
Safety
If you notice a strong gas smell, electrical arcing, melted wiring, smoke, or significant overheating, stop using the appliance until the condition has been inspected.
Repair or replace?
Many oven and range repairs are practical when the appliance is otherwise in good condition.
For older appliances or repairs involving expensive controls or major components, we explain the repair cost before proceeding so you can decide whether repair makes economic sense.

The standard diagnostic visit is $85.
If you approve the recommended repair, the $85 diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair.
If the problem can be completely resolved during the diagnostic visit without a separate repair visit, the total service charge is $190.

Oven & range repair FAQ
Why does my gas oven igniter glow but the oven does not light?
An igniter can glow without drawing enough current to operate the gas valve correctly. Other ignition or control problems are also possible.
Why is my oven temperature inaccurate?
Possible causes include sensor problems, calibration issues, heating component failures, wiring problems, or control issues.
Should I keep using an oven with delayed ignition?
No. Delayed or abnormal gas ignition should be inspected before continued use.
Why does an electric oven stop heating even though the display still works?
The control display and heating circuit are separate parts of the appliance. A heating element, relay, wiring connection, sensor, power-supply issue, or another component can fail while the display continues to operate.
